Filtrex Vacuum Transfer Media-Charging System
Blower-driven vacuum system that draws precoat media into a Filtrex regenerative filter without slurry mixing.
Overview
Filtrex describes the Vacuum Transfer System as a major innovation in the media-charging process for its regenerative filters. Instead of mixing a precoat slurry, the operator activates a single-stage regenerative blower from a motor control station, which creates a partial vacuum in the filter tank; a pre-measured media charge is then drawn in through a vacuum hose and wand. The Flex-Tube elements keep the media inside the tank, and a high-efficiency canister filter catches any residual media before the blower.
According to Filtrex, the system reduces the time and mess of pre-coat slurry mixing and substantially reduces airborne-media exposure. After charging, the filter is filled normally and the pre-coat is mixed and deposited on the elements during the pre-coat recycle period. Filtrex's MOD 1 electrical diagram shows a dedicated Vacuum Transfer switch on the MOD I controller face, and the operation procedure walks through valve sequencing for draining lines, connecting the hose at the pre-coat inlet and running the transfer.
Is this a fit for your facility?
Usually a fit when
- Operators who want to limit staff exposure to airborne DE or perlite dust during precoating.
- Existing Filtrex regenerative filter installations; Filtrex offers the system as a retrofit.
- Facilities that precoat frequently and want to shorten the media-charging routine.
Ideal facilities and conditions: Precoating Filtrex EC series regenerative filters; Retrofit of existing Filtrex filter rooms.
Problems it addresses

Filtrex Vacuum Transfer Media-Charging System: frequently asked questions
Does the media still need to be slurried?
No. Filtrex's procedure has the operator vacuum the dry, pre-measured charge into the drained filter; the pre-coat is then mixed and deposited on the elements during the normal pre-coat recycle period after the filter is filled.
