Pumps, Circulation and Flow Control

Circulation is the heartbeat of the equipment room: the recirculation pump moves water through filtration, treatment, and heating at the turnover rate the code requires. Pump selection, variable-speed control, strainers, and flow monitoring determine energy use, filter performance, and how well the chemistry controller can do its job.

FreyTech evaluates pumps and flow control as part of the whole loop, coordinating with the engineer of record on flow, head, and turnover, and integrating VFD control and flow monitoring with BECSys controllers where the facility wants them. FreyTech represents Aurora, Pentair and Grundfos commercial pumps through ASC Pumping Equipment, Inc.

Selection considerations

What to decide before choosing equipment

Flow and head

Engineer-confirmed design flow and total dynamic head under New York turnover requirements.

Variable speed

VFD control can match speed to demand within code; BECSys5 offers patented VFD recirculation control as an option.

Materials and serviceability

Stainless, bronze, or composite wet ends; seal access; strainer basket size and clearance.
