Water Testing and Monitoring

New York requires manual testing of pH and free and total chlorine at the beginning, during, and end of each swimming period with a DPD kit and fresh reagents (10 NYCRR 6-1.11). Automated controllers monitor continuously, but the test kit remains the reference the controller is calibrated against.

FreyTech supplies Taylor Technologies test kits and reagents and trains operators to compare manual results with the controller so probes are calibrated on schedule rather than on failure.

Common facility applications

  • Every New York public pool
  • Facilities standardizing testing across several sites

Selection considerations

What to decide before choosing equipment

Method

DPD colorimetric versus FAS-DPD titration; the latter reads high chlorine and combined chlorine more precisely.

Reagent age

New York requires reagents under one year old; plan replacement.

Integration

BECSys controllers can upload readings from SpinTouch and Lumiso digital kits.
