Fiberglass commercial pool reducers
Flanged fiberglass concentric and eccentric pump reducers, 50 psi, with ANSI 150 lb flat-face flanges.
Overview
Reducers diminish pipe size to control flow into and out of circulating pumps. Because pump connections are usually smaller than the process piping, the manufacturer notes reducers are needed to create a uniform velocity profile for proper pump operation. Mer-Made offers concentric reducers (shared center axis) and eccentric reducers (offset axis); the product page places eccentric reducers before the pump and concentric reducers after it.
The reducers are fiberglass with integral flanges, which the manufacturer states are heavier duty than molded PVC reducers and resist cracking if slightly over-tightened. They carry a 50 psi pressure rating and have flat-face flanges with 150 lb ANSI drilling patterns. Standard sizes range from 4 x 2 in. through 16 x 14 in.; the brochure lists standard lengths (for example 14 in. for 16 x 14 through 12 x 5, and shorter lengths for smaller sizes) and states custom lengths are available.
Is this a fit for your facility?
Usually a fit when
- Connecting fiberglass or PVC process piping to smaller pump suction and discharge flanges on commercial pool circulation systems.
- Pairing with Mer-Made FRP strainers, which are also flanged to the 150 lb ANSI pattern.
- Replacing molded PVC reducers that have cracked at the flange.
Ideal facilities and conditions: Pump suction transitions (eccentric); Pump discharge transitions (concentric); Adapting new equipment to existing piping of a different size.
Problems it addresses
Key capabilities and benefits
Capabilities
- Fiberglass construction with integral flanges.
- 50 psi pressure rating.
- Flat-face flanges with 150 lb ANSI drilling patterns.
- Concentric and eccentric styles.
- Standard sizes from 4 x 2 in. to 16 x 14 in.; custom lengths available.
Operational and buyer benefits
- Manufacturer states the fiberglass reducers are a more durable alternative to molded PVC reducers and that the integral flanges resist cracking if over-tightened.

Fiberglass commercial pool reducers: frequently asked questions
Which style goes on the pump suction?
The manufacturer's product page states eccentric reducers (offset axis) are used before the pump and concentric reducers (shared center axis) are used after the pump.
