Aurora 410 Series Single Stage Split Case Pumps (Models 411, 412, 413)
Bronze-fitted split case pumps to 15,000 GPM for large pools, horizontal (411) or vertical (412/413)
Overview
The Aurora 410 Series is a double-suction, single-stage split case pump line. The upper casing half can be removed for service or inspection without disturbing suction and discharge piping or alignment. Pentair's 410 Series brochure rates the family at capacities to 15,000 GPM (3,407 m3/hr), heads to 663 feet (202 m) and temperatures to 275 F (135 C), with range charts at 3500, 1750 and 1150 RPM (60 Hz) and 3000 and 1500 RPM (50 Hz).
Three mounting arrangements are offered. Model 411 is horizontally baseplate mounted with a flexibly coupled driver, recommended where floorspace is ample and flooding is not possible. Model 412 is vertically mounted with flexible shafting between driver and pump, recommended where flooding is possible. Model 413 is vertically mounted with an elevated driver coupled directly through a flexible coupling, recommended where floorspace is limited and flooding is a marginal possibility. Pentair notes vertical pumps let two pumps fit where one horizontal would.
Standard construction is bronze fitted with bronze shaft sleeves and bronze case wearing rings, dynamically balanced impellers, twin volute on 10-inch and larger pumps, stainless steel impeller key, carbon steel shaft, regreasable ball bearings rated for 50,000-hour minimum life at maximum load, 125 lb ASA flanges and 250 psi case working pressure. Mechanical seals (carbon against ceramic, 303 stainless parts, Buna-N elastomers) are standard on 412/413 and optional on 411, which ships with packing as standard. On the Pentair Commercial Pool page the 410 Series is shown as the AURORA 411 model with the 3800 Series; Pentair directs sizing, pricing and availability to its factory.
Is this a fit for your facility?
Usually a fit when
- High-flow recirculation for large competition pools, wave pools, lazy rivers and multi-pool aquatic centers
- Pump rooms where a split case allows inspection without breaking piping
- Basements or pits with flood risk, using the vertical 412/413 with the motor above flood level
- Engineered specifications calling for bronze-fitted, double-suction pumps with certified performance tests
Look elsewhere when
- Small or mid-size pools served by Pentair's self-priming plastic or bronze pool pumps (the 410 Series has no integral strainer and requires flooded suction)
Ideal facilities and conditions: Commercial pool and spa recirculation (per Pentair Commercial Pool listing); Cooling, heating and air conditioning service; High pressure water service; Boiler feed and condensate service.
Problems it addresses
Key capabilities and benefits

Installation requirements and retrofit considerations
Prerequisites
- Flooded suction and separate strainer where required; no integral hair-and-lint strainer
- Individual performance curves must be checked for final selection (Pentair brochure); factory sizing via 800-831-7133
- Adequate floor space and foundation for the 411 baseplate, or vertical clearance for the 412/413
Retrofit and replacement notes
- Left-hand rotation available with standard parts, which can help match existing piping
- Model 413 vertical layout can fit two pumps in the floor area of one horizontal pump (Pentair brochure)
Integration with other equipment
No equipment integrations are documented for this product. Coordination happens through the design team.
