Pentair C Series High Performance Commercial Bronze Pumps
All-bronze commercial pool pump, 5-20 HP, flows to 740 GPM, with 6 in suction and 4 in discharge
Overview
Pentair describes the C Series as a heavy-duty pump specifically designed for large pools, fountains and water attractions that demand high flow rates and continuous operation, and says its efficiency, quiet operation, easy maintenance and durability have set the standard for medium- and high-head performance in the pool industry for many years. The volute and motor adapter are bronze CA 84400, the closed impeller is bronze CA 83600, the foot is enamel-coated cast iron, and the strainer pot is bronze with a heavy-gauge stainless steel basket whose open area is five times the suction port area.
Two hydraulic families are offered: CM/CMK (medium head) in 5, 7.5, 10 and 15 HP and CH/CHK (high head) in 5, 7.5, 10, 15 and 20 HP, all at 3450 RPM. Three-phase CMK/CHK models are available at 220/440 V and 200/208 V; single-phase CM/CH models are 5 and 7.5 HP at 200/208 V or 230 V and 10 HP at 230 V only. Ports are 6 in ANSI 125 lb flanged suction on the strainer (5 in without strainer) and 4 in flanged discharge. Limits are 104 F liquid and ambient temperature and 50 psi; the seal is rated for operation up to 150 F. Pentair lists a one-year limited warranty.
Pentair's engineering specification calls for NSF 50 certification by a nationally recognized laboratory; the brochure footnotes the single-phase 7.5 HP 200/208 V models (CM-75, CH-75 at 200/208 V) as not NSF listed. Pentair's EQ Series page states the EQ Series is a drop-in replacement for C Series pumps; the C Series remains listed on pentair.com with no discontinuation notice on the fetched pages.
Is this a fit for your facility?
Usually a fit when
- Large pools, fountains and water attractions needing 5-20 HP with continuous operation
- Facilities standardizing on bronze wet ends and stainless strainer baskets
- Higher-head duties via the CH/CHK family (to 20 HP)
- Replacement of existing C Series installations with matching flanged 6 in x 4 in connections
Look elsewhere when
- Water above 104 F (Pentair's stated liquid limit for the pump)
- Duties beyond 740 GPM or 20 HP, where Pentair lists Aurora engineered pumps
Ideal facilities and conditions: Commercial swimming pool recirculation; Fountains and water attractions; High-end residential pools (per Pentair brochure); Medium- and high-head pool duties.
