Pentair EQ Series High Performance Commercial Pump
Non-corrosive all-plastic commercial pool pump, 3-15 HP, flows to 800 GPM, NSF certified and self-priming
Overview
Pentair describes the EQ Series as the only non-corrosive, all-plastic pumps designed for the commercial pool and water applications market. The volute, motor adapter and closed impeller are PPO resin, the base is slotted 6061 aluminum, and the pump is a volute-type back pull-out design close-coupled to a NEMA C-flange JM (ODP) or JMZ (TEFC) premium-efficient motor with a 303 stainless steel shaft. Pentair's product page lists NEMA Premium grade efficiency motors, a Cam and Ramp see-through lid, lightweight construction and easy serviceability, and states the pump is a drop-in replacement for C Series and CSP pumps.
Ratings are 3 to 15 HP at 3500 RPM. Three-phase models are 208-230/460 V and single-phase ODP models (5, 7.5 and 10 HP) are 230 V 60 Hz; TEFC motors are three-phase only (5-15 HP). The pump ships with a 6 in ANSI 125/150 bolted-flange suction (to the strainer) and 4 in discharge; without the strainer pot the pump is 6 in x 6 in. Maximum ambient and liquid temperature is 104 F and maximum operating pressure is 50 psi. The strainer pot is a separate bolt-on PPO resin body with a mineral-reinforced polypropylene basket (98 sq in open area) and polycarbonate lid.
Pentair's brochure states the EQ Series is self-priming under NSF standards and NSF certified; the product page notes NSF and UL approval applies to TEFC models only. The series includes EQW/EQWK WaterFall models at 3 and 5 HP (1750 RPM) for water features. Pentair recommends the pump for use with its Acu Drive XS variable frequency drives, and notes 575 V and 50 Hz models are available through Pentair representatives.
Is this a fit for your facility?
Usually a fit when
- Commercial pool recirculation from roughly 3 to 15 HP where corrosion resistance and light weight matter
- Like-for-like replacement of Pentair C Series or CSP bronze pumps (Pentair states drop-in replacement)
- Installations planning a variable frequency drive (Pentair recommends Acu Drive XS)
- Water features via the EQW/EQWK WaterFall models
Look elsewhere when
- Duties above 15 HP or 800 GPM, where Pentair lists the C Series (to 20 HP) or Aurora engineered pumps
- Water above 104 F (Pentair's stated liquid temperature limit)
Ideal facilities and conditions: Commercial swimming pool recirculation; Waterfalls and water features (EQW WaterFall models); Other commercial water applications; Retrofit of C Series / CSP pump installations.
