Overview

Pentair positions the WhisperFloXF as the most powerful, efficient WhisperFlo it has built, developed with CFD and FEA tools. It pairs a proprietary impeller with a hydraulic isolator that smooths flow inside the volute for faster priming and higher efficiency. With capabilities in excess of 200 GPM, Pentair recommends it for residential and commercial applications, especially those with water features, negative edges and slides.

The commercial product page lists two stock items: 022012 (XF-8, 2 HP single-speed full-rated, 208-230 V, 1.3 SF, 2.6 SFHP, 55 lb) and 022034 (XFET-20, 5 HP commercial single-speed TEFC, 208-230 V, 1.0 SF, 67 lb), both UL and NSF listed with 2.5 in x 2.5 in or 3 in x 3 in port options. The brochure's performance table extends the family to XFE-20/XFET-20/XFK-20 (5 HP), XFE-12/XFDS-12/XFET-12/XFK-12/XF-12 (3 HP), XF-8/XFE-8/XFET-8/XFDS-8/XFK-8 (2 HP) and XF-30/XFE-30/XFDS-30 (2.5 HP up-rated), including two-speed and three-phase super-duty motor options.

Serviceability features include a Cam and Ramp see-through lid, an extra-large strainer basket, external port threads with tool-free union nuts, an easy-carry handle and a dual-compartment motor for simpler field wiring. Union connectors for 2.5 in or 3 in plumbing are included; a riser base (part 400012) is required to replace Challenger pumps. Pentair notes that single-speed pumps of 1 total HP or greater cannot be sold or installed for residential pool filtration in California under Title 20.

  • Like-for-like replacement of existing WhisperFlo pumps (drop-in) or Challenger pumps (with riser base)
  • Slides, negative edges and feature pumps where a dedicated single-speed pump is specified
  • Sites requiring a TEFC or three-phase motor at 2-5 HP

Look elsewhere when

  • Main recirculation pumps above 5 HP or flows beyond the WhisperFloXF curve (Pentair lists EQ Series, C Series and Aurora for those)
  • Applications where energy code requires variable-speed operation (see WhisperFloXF VS)
