Pulsar Precision 30

Compact, flow-based calcium hypochlorite feed for small and mid-size commercial pools

Looking for the decision guide? The Pulsar Precision 30 flagship page covers problems solved, scenarios, process, and FAQs in depth. This page is the specification and fit reference.

Overview

Precision 30 (model PS-1HCE30) brings dry calcium hypochlorite feed to pools far smaller than the full-size Precision serves. Its standard installation is flow-based through a Venturi bypass, with no booster pump, and its ~50 lb operating weight fits tight mechanical rooms.

Pulsar's product page now publishes a single recommended pool size for Precision 30: 10,000–300,000 gallons. Its installation manual gives more detailed guidance by exposure: up to 200,000 gallons indoor and 90,000 gallons outdoor non-stabilized (the relevant outdoor figure in New York, which prohibits stabilizer). That 300,000-gallon ceiling leaves a gap against the full-size Precision's published 500,000-gallon floor: pools in the 300,000–500,000-gallon range fall between the two models' stated ranges. FreyTech sizes by measured chlorine demand rather than either headline figure, and will tell a facility in that gap which model, if either, actually fits.

Is this a fit for your facility?

Usually a fit when

  • School, YMCA, hotel, and municipal pools moving off liquid bleach
  • Facilities with limited storage or delivery access
  • Mid-size pools whose demand exceeds small tablet feeders

Look elsewhere when

  • Very large or high-load pools (see Pulsar Precision)
  • Small warm therapy pools and spas where controls matter more than feed capacity

Ideal facilities and conditions: Mid-size lap pools; Hotel and resort pools; Camp and seasonal pools; Outdoor municipal pools within demand range.

Problems it addresses

Key capabilities and benefits

Capabilities

  • Flow-based Venturi bypass installation; no booster pump in the standard configuration
  • 30 lb hopper
  • 2–36 lb/day available chlorine (max 1.5 lb/hr)
  • ~50 lb operating weight; 19.5 × 15.5 × 34 in
  • NSF Listed per Pulsar

Operational and buyer benefits

  • Dry chemical feed at a scale most institutional pools can use
  • Small footprint and simple hydraulics
  • Fewer deliveries and no bulk liquid storage

Installation requirements and retrofit considerations

Prerequisites

  • Adequate filter pressure for the Venturi bypass, or booster-pump variant
  • Controller with chlorine-demand output and flow interlock
  • Dry-oxidizer storage per fire code
  • Plan review with the engineer where treatment equipment is modified

Retrofit and replacement notes

  • Frequently replaces liquid metering pumps at mid-size pools
  • Expect calcium hardness to rise; plan pH control
  • Confirm demand from a season of records before sizing

Integration with other equipment

  • BECSys3 / BECSys5Controller demand output drives the feeder solenoid.
    Manufacturer-documented
  • Pulsar GuardTecPulsar's own controller.
    Manufacturer-documented

Often specified with

  • BECSys5Expandable water-chemistry controller: pH, ORP, and temperature standard; free-chlorine PPM, alkalinity, flow, pressures, inventory, VFD, UV, and heater control optional. Ethernet, alarms, and BECSys Live included.
    Documented pairing
  • Pulsar Plus Calcium Hypochlorite BriquettesCalcium hypochlorite briquettes for Pulsar Precision and Precision 30 feeders. Pulsar's warranty requires Pulsar Plus briquettes.
    Documented pairing

“Commonly considered together” means the pairing is typical in practice; technical compatibility is confirmed for each project.

Pulsar Precision 30: frequently asked questions

What pool size does Pulsar recommend for Precision 30?

Pulsar's product page states a recommended pool size of 10,000–300,000 gallons. Its installation manual adds detail by exposure: up to 200,000 gallons indoor and 90,000 gallons outdoor non-stabilized, which is the relevant outdoor figure in New York. We size by measured chlorine demand, not headline gallonage.

What about pools between 300,000 and 500,000 gallons?

That range falls in a gap between Pulsar's two published model ranges: Precision 30 tops out at 300,000 gallons and the full-size Precision's stated range starts at 500,000 gallons. We evaluate those pools by measured chlorine demand and tell you honestly which model, if either, fits, rather than defaulting to one.
